November 18, 2018 marked the 8th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner served by Hissom Mission. The first dinner was served in 1933 to hundreds of needy families in the Kanawha Valley. in 2018, the tradition continued unbroken by serving nearly 100 people the Sunday before Thanksgiving.

In 2018, however, another great tradition was revived by serving a second dinner on Thanksgiving Day. This second dinner was cooked and served to the area's homeless population by the ladies of Ministry of Hope. Scores of people came to dinner who would otherwise have no way of celebrating Thanksgiving Day.  It is our hope, as this tradition continues, that anyone in need, or without family or friends with which to enjoy Thanksgiving, will join us for food and fellowship on Thanksgiving Day.

July 26, 2018 we were awarded the Lighthouse Spirit Award by BB&T. We were in the running for this award with 10 other agencies across the country. Our wonderful supporters voted us in to the top three after several days of voting, which made us the recipient of $5000 by BB&T.
Each year, the ladies of BB&T pictured here support our food pantry with $1500 of much needed food supplies. They nominated us for this award and we are so grateful for their support. Here they pictured with Bonnie Hissom, Pastor of Hissom Tabernacle Church of the Nazarene, awarding us a certificate and a $5000 check. This money will be used to upgrade our kitchen.

Thank you ladies of BB&T for your continuing support. God Bless.

This June The Ministry of Hope, a small group of ladies began serving the homeless a good, hearty lunch each day. The ladies pictured here are Dana Board, Rebecca Bowling, and Melissa Vest. Other members include Tiffany Baier, Felicia Haynes and Patti Hissom. These ladies are special and especially called to help those less fortunate. They love what the do, and the people who come in to eat adore them.
We have had many of the homeless tell us that Ministry of Hope serves the best food in town and they appreciate the personal attention they are given by the staff.
Great job ladies, God bless you for what you do each day.
